The [K9] Clan is a gaming clan devoted to Half Life and Day Of Defeat - a Half Life WWII Mod.
[K9] was founded one afternoon in 2000 by myself and a few other regular players.
We all seemed to navigate to the same servers and had a similar love for the game.
We all played for the fun of it (had too, we weren't that good) and did not focus on the competition.
Half Life clans were becoming pretty popular (I was already in one that was breaking up), so I threw out the idea of starting our own clan.
We could go by the name [K9] and take on names that had some sort of dog-theme.
So, on that day, and the following week or two, Drunken Bastard [KoL], Kallie, Speedy Gonzales and Paula became the founding members:
[K9] BlaQue Dawg [K9] Sparky
[K9] KollieFlower [K9] Puppy Love
Our Clan and our members have always strived to create an atmosphere of fun.
And, while we are competitive, we focus on the enjoyment of the game and the friends that have joined us over the years.
The [K9] Clan philosophy
Help new players learn the game (we were there once too)
Do not use, nor tolerate the use of, profanity, smack talk, taunts, racist comments, or offensive names.
Play fair: No cheats, scripts or binds (other than simple key binds), no type-killing or spawn camping.
K9 has always had a different approach when it comes to inviting people to join.
K9 was started years ago by a group of friends who just wanted to have fun and enjoyed playing Half Life together.
The game was almost secondary to the socializing.
If you spend any time around our servers or forums, you will find that philosophy holds true today.
K9 has a lot of good players. Some were good before they joined, and others got better after.
None of the players were asked to join because of their skills.
They were asked to join because they had become our friends and had fun hanging with us.
There is no real application process to join our group. Everyone we have selected has become a member in spirit before being invited in.
We welcome everyone to join us on the servers, join us on the forums, and have a good time. We will treat you with kindness and respect.
When we look for new members, we look for those who are closest to us.
Be patient. Some members were asked to join after only a month or two. Others hung around for over a year.
And, if for some reason you are not asked to join, we hope you still have fun fraggin' and hangin' with us.
